LESSONS learned from the Walled City could hardly be applied to the Rennie's Mill clearance project, officials said yesterday. The comment follows Director of Audit Mr Brian Jenney's criticism that the Government had been too generous in compensating Walled City flat owners. The Deputy Secretary for Planning, Environment and Lands, Mr Canice Mak Chun-fong said: ''We don't recognise the property rights of flat owners in Rennie's Mill.'' Plans were announced last year to redevelop the area into a new town and rehouse the 1,400 households on public estates in Junk Bay.
