Trainer Chris Cheung is one of local racing's real battlers with only a small stable to call upon.

As such it was rewarding to see him record a win last Wednesday night with the four-year-old Easy Way, who has been a mainstay of the yard this season.

It was the gelding's second win for the term and in addition he has been placed three times.

If success has scarce for Cheung then yesterday's barrier trial session on the dirt would have given him some cause for optimism as his unraced youngster Winning Boy created a good impression taking the second of three trials.

The International Sales Griffin had Douglas Whyte in the saddle and after showing good early pace he ran on solidly without being pressured in the straight to win from Room For More and Millennium Star.

He is an American-bred colt, a son of Belong To Me, and he should be given plenty of respect when he makes his debut.
