CONFIDENCE in the Hong Kong Government and the economy have both increased significantly, according to an opinion poll conducted for the Sunday Morning Post this month.
At the same time, the poll by Asian Commercial Research showed that 69 per cent of those questioned expressed confidence in the legal system.
Seventy-one per cent said they were confident in the rule of law compared with 22 per cent who were not.
Men and young people expressed the most confidence.
The news that Chief Secretary Anson Chan Fang On-sang was to stay in her post was welcomed by 87 per cent while six per cent were unhappy about it and seven per cent had no opinion.
The survey, carried out between March 3 and April 7, showed 65 per cent expressing confidence in the economy over the next 12 months, with 32 per cent saying they lacked confidence.
