The Government yesterday abandoned its move to block a former police constable's fight to set aside the Chief Executive's order for his compulsory retirement.
It was not clear if Ng Yuk, 43, could get his job back. Mr Ng was forced to resign after being tried for plotting with two other officers to rob a fruit stall. He was acquitted.
Mr Justice Wally Yeung Chun-kuen found in favour of Mr Ng in the judicial review, after hearing from government barrister Newton Chan that the bid would not be contested.

But Mr Chan told the Court of First Instance that the Commissioner of Police and the Civil Service Bureau reserved their position as to future action, if any.
