Dr Li said yesterday he was unhappy his name had been made public in the hearing, and said: 'It's like the O. J. Simpson trial now.' Speaking outside court, he said: 'I believe the disclosure of my name has not made a big difference in the trial.' Dr Li said that if he encountered any trouble in the future he might have second thoughts about reporting it to the police unless there was a change in the system.
The divorced doctor said he did not not want to reveal his age because it would put off potential girlfriends, although the Post learned he is 50.
'I have a girlfriend now but I don't want to limit my chances,' he added.
Dr Li, deputy superintendent of the Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital, married his ex-wife, Evelyn Cheung Man-york, in 1973.
They were divorced in 1996.
She took him to court in pursuit of a payout of $40 million but was awarded $22.6 million.
