The pro-Beijing DAB is to set up a school for political talent to aid efforts to become the ruling party.
Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong chairman Tsang Yok-sing said yesterday that the party wanted to prepare for a future ministerial style of government.
Mr Tsang had just returned from a two-day camp in Panyu, Guangdong, with more than 80 party members.
'We believe our political party will take a leading role in the SAR and we should equip ourselves for those needs,' he said.
The school would train members to take part in the political arena and formulate policy.
'I hope after a period of time, there will be more talent to take up the posts of ministers.
'We will be able to formulate a set of public policies. Unlike other parties, we will not act solely as an opposition party,' he said.
