A KMB worker died yesterday when he was knocked down by a bus and trapped underneath it for several minutes before he was noticed.
Painter Ling Yin-chiu, 59, was working in the Kowloon Motor Bus depot in Cheung Sha Wan when a colleague from the inspection section backed the double-decker into a parking bay and hit him at about 9am.
Ling had worked for the company for 31 years and was scheduled to retire at the end of this year.
'His 54-year-old colleague was unaware of hitting him while reversing the vehicle and left after parking the vehicle,' said Senior Inspector Tong Chi-wah of the Kowloon West traffic unit.
'The victim suffered serious injuries and was discovered underneath the bus two or three minutes later.' Ling was unconscious when found.
He was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital where doctors declared him dead at 9.30am.
