Two mainland tourists were killed yesterday when they were hit by a bus in Nathan Road.
The tragedy happened at an accident black spot, a few hours before Tang Ruling, 34, and Liang Bibo, 37, were to leave for Macau as part of an Asian tour.
The two women were hit by a Kowloon Motor Bus double-decker bound for Lai Chi Kok outside the London Restaurant on Nathan Road, about 20 metres from the junction of Waterloo Road around 10.12am.
They suffered serious head injuries and were taken to Kwong Wah Hospital where Tang was certified dead at 10.45am. Liang was pronounced dead at 1pm.
Police said the junction was a black spot as there were 22 accidents between March 1998 and March 1999. A spokesman said they would investigate the accident and take action to warn motorists and pedestrians if necessary.
It is understood the women were in a hurry to return to YMCA Chinese International House at Waterloo Road to join other tour members for the Macau trip.
