Upmarket retailer Dickson Concepts (International) has secured an exclusive licence to distribute handbags and shoes of European label JP Tod's as part of an expansion plan in Taiwan.
Dickson yesterday said it would open 12 outlets, including four JP Tod's boutiques distributing men's and women's shoes, handbags, belts and leather goods.
The move comes on the heels of a proposed $1.52 billion restructuring which will see chairman Dickson Poon acquire assets outside Asia, and making the group a pure Asian retail stock.
In another expansion in Taiwan, Dickson will add outlets for Brooks Brothers, which distributes business wear, casual wear and accessories and Ralph Lauren, which markets children's wear.
'We're always willing to explore any investment opportunity that may provide exceptional value to the company,' Mr Poon said.
He said yesterday that Dickson was confident about the future development of its Asian markets and believed these markets would once again achieve strong growth when the Asian economy recovered.
