United States-based commercial cleaning enterprise Jani-King Franchising is seeking to further expand its operations in Asia-Pacific.

The company yesterday launched its Hong Kong operations, having set up franchises in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Australasia.

Senior international development director Rock Tapken said Asia provided good expansion opportunities as soaring unemployment encouraged people to think about setting up their own businesses.

According to preliminary plans, Hong Kong franchisees can set up a cleaning operation with a $25,000 start-up fee and monthly instalments of about $2,500 for at least two years.

Jani-King undertakes to provide monthly business of not less than $15,000 for franchisees. Should it fail to do so, it will reimburse part of the monthly instalment.

Franchisees must pay a royalty fee of 10 per cent of turnover, plus operational expenses of about 5 per cent.
