SHANGHAI (May 3): SIX top ranking officials of the Central Trust, including Shen Hsi-sui, Director, and Wang Miao-Chih, Secretary General, were detained by the employees of the institution last Wednesday for failure to pay 'emergency funds', says the China Press. The employees of the Central Trust had learned the officials were scheduled to leave Shanghai for South China shortly, without mentioning the evacuation of employees and the payment of evacuation funds.
The employees, numbering more than 300, hurriedly organised themselves in to 'vigilance corps' and locked up the gates from the inside and cut off telephone lines and placed the six top officials under house arrest.
