Singapore to Bangkok train to make first trip in autumn

THE new deluxe Singapore-Bangkok Eastern and Oriental express train will officially make its first run on September 19.

Parts of the train have been undergoing recent trials.

Five carriages were hauled by a Malaysian Railways' locomotive from workshops near Keppel Road Station in Singapore, across the causeway and into Johore State, Malaysia.

Further trials are now taking place, with the first test run of the full Singapore-Bangkok route later this month.

Regular preview trips for passengers will start on June 27.

The train will make one return trip a week between Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, through mountains, tropical rainforests and along beautiful coastlines.
