PIERRE Tari, the president of Chateau Giscours, visited Hongkong last week. His family estate in Margaux has about 100 hectares of vines. At a dinner in his honour, the 1982 and 1985 Chateau Giscours was served. The 1982 was somewhat unbalanced with the tannin too apparent. Mr Tari said: ''It needs some years before it will reach its plateau.'' The 1985 was more balanced and more approachable. However, traces of tannin indicated this wine was also just below its peak. The 1985 is the wine for dinner. Keep the 1982 to toast in the new century. Area: Margaux. Grower: Chateau Giscours. Grape: Classic Bordeaux blend. Importer: Remy Hongkong. Price: 1985 $324 per bottle. 1982 $424 per bottle. Availability: From Remy outlets. Tel: 523-5904. Buying advice: For a great occasion.
