Cool air circulation improved on KCR trains
I would like to thank Divina P. Miller for sharing her views with us in a letter headlined 'Chilly trains' which appeared in these columns on April 21.
A few escalators are turned off during off-peak hours to save energy. We however will ensure that there is always an alternative one available for passengers.
The temperature inside KCR train compartments is pre-set in the depot before the trains enter into service.
For summer, the temperature is set at 22 to 24 degrees Celsius while for winter, the temperature is set at 20 to 22 degrees.
The choice of temperature has taken into consideration the maximum loading of a train in peak hours, the temperature in the open area in different seasons and the preference of the majority of passengers.
We believe that the feeling of being too hot or too cold is very personal.
