A five-year-old boy left alone at home became trapped on a ledge 23 storeys up and had to be rescued by police and firefighters.
Tse Chi-wah was left asleep in a flat in Block One, Bo Shek Mansion, in Sha Tsui Road, Tsuen Wan, at about 9.30am by his grandfather who had gone to a nearby travel agency. The boy's parents had gone to work.
'The boy found nobody at home when he woke up. He wanted to go out to play but used the wrong exit,' said Tsuen Wan divisional commander, Acting Superintendent Fu Chu-kam.
'He tried to leave the unit through the main door but it was locked. Then he climbed out of the window from the living room but was trapped on the window ledge between the 22nd and 23rd floors.' A neighbour saw him at about 10am and called police and firefighters, who broke into the flat and rescued him.
Senior Lei Muk Shue fire station officer Man Tak-wing said: 'He did not cry or shout for help but sat motionless.'
