Ex-wife of Kenny Bee sues for defamation

THE socialite ex-wife of pop singer Kenny Bee is suing a newspaper and hostess of the television show Fat Mother Phone Flirtation, alleging they ruined her reputation and stifled her chances of securing a top fashion job.

Teresa Cheung Siu-wai filed the High Court writ against Apple Daily, Maria Cordero and Cable Television Ltd, which employs Ms Cordero.

The writ claims Apple Daily defamed Ms Cheung in a caption on January 13, two days after defamatory remarks were allegedly made on the Chinese-language Fat Mother Phone Flirtation.

The writ claims that a week after the remarks were broadcast, Ms Cheung was refused a job by fashion company Salvatore Ferragamo International.

Ms Cheng is seeking unspecified damages, aggravated damages, an injunction and costs.
