A new Omnimax show tells the dramatic story of an international expedition's journey to the top of the world's tallest mountain which had claimed the lives of eight climbers only a few days earlier.

Everest , now on at the Hong Kong Space Museum, captures the amazing achievements of a group of people who found hope, beauty and triumph in the wake of tragedy.

The expedition was undertaken in 1996, just days after eight climbers were killed in a snow storm.

Apart from breathtaking photography, the film provides fascinating information about how Everest was formed and continues to evolve, how high altitude challenges a climber's physical and mental capabilities, and how Sherpa traditions permeate the expedition. Everest also deals with the relationship between the 'daredevil' climbers and the mountain they sometimes fear.

Tickets for this 42-minute show, at $32 and $24 (half price for full-time students, the disabled and senior citizens), are available from Urbtix.
