VICTIMS of the embassy bombing have the right to sue Nato and member states for compensation, a Chinese legal expert claims. Cai Shixin, a Chinese-Canadian lawyer who has worked in Canada for more than 10 years, said the victims and their relatives had the right to sue. 'The United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada have a common law system and Germany has a civil law system, but they all say that if one person's life or property is damaged by another person or government, he or she has the right to seek compensation,' Xinhua quoted him as saying. The relatives of the three dead and more than 20 injured had the right to take civil action in American, British, Canadian and German courts, he said. He urged overseas Chinese to donate money towards the lawsuit because such cases would normally be costly.
