English football giants Chelsea have been banned from a Wan Chai nightclub after one of their players allegedly groped a woman, sparking a brawl that left three people injured.

Another unidentified player is understood to have been ejected from the club after an incident in the toilet.

The trouble occurred early last Thursday at Joe Bananas before Chelsea's 2-1 win over Instant Dict at the Hong Kong Stadium on Saturday.

'We can confirm there was an incident involving the Chelsea football team,' said the club's deputy manager, Justin Bentley-Marchant. 'Two or three of the players were involved but we are not prepared to name them.

'Their behaviour was an absolute disgrace and we have banned them from coming back.' Mr Bentley-Marchant said three people needed hospital treatment after being hit by bottles in the brawl.

'The two [the player and the husband of the molested woman] started trading punches, then more people got involved. Bottles were being smashed into people's faces.' Police said no complaints were made against any players.
