THE inter-primary school mathematics competition held recently at Sha Tin Methodist College aroused both excitement and a sense of achievement among participants.
In order to enhance pupils' interests and develop their potential in mathematics, the Mathematics Club of the college, the organiser of the event, invited nine primary schools in the neighbourhood to compete.
Participating schools were the Buddhist Bright Pearl Primary School AM, Carmel Alison Lam Primary School AM, Carmel Alison Lam Primary School PM, Christian Alliance H.C. Chan Primary School, FMB Chun Lei Primary School PM, HKUSDSGA Sha Kok Primary School, PLK Chee Jing Yin Primary School PM, Sha Tin Methodist Primary School AM, and Sha Tin Methodist Primary School PM.
The Chief Inspectorate of Mathematics from the Education Department, Mr K.W. Tsang, was invited to officiate at the event.
After some exciting competition, the Christian Alliance H.C. Chan Primary School AM beat their rivals to win the championship, while PLK Chee Jing Yin Primary School came second and Chun Lei Primary School, third.
Compliments were paid to the enthusiastic and well co-ordinated efforts of the organiser, committee members and advisers of the Mathematics Club who helped make the event a success.
