WHILE the rest of Hongkong is heating up, two students are preparing to cool down - in the icy temperatures of the Arctic Circle.
Ms Katherine Wong Wing-kit and Ms Rita Tsang Ka-mei, both 20, have been chosen out of more than 500 applicants to take part in an expedition to travel around Iceland and Greenland.
And when Ms Wong, a fashion design student at Kwun Tong Technical Institute, touches down in Reykjavik tomorrow morning, it will be the first time in her life she has seen snow.
''The first thing I will do when I see some snow is pick it up and throw a snowball. I am very excited,'' she said.
She will spend nearly three weeks with a dozen people from other countries, living and travelling on the Fridtjof Nansen, a 52-metre sailing ship.
Their International Youth Camp ecology programme includes survey work on some of Iceland's natural water resources and visiting hot volcanic springs.
The second leg of the expedition will be carried out by Ms Tsang, who will sail from Iceland to Greenland, where her group will go on treks across the Arctic tundra.
