Men who find it a hassle shaving every morning or women who undergo painful waxing or electrolysis now have the option of the latest laser technology to remove unwanted body hair permanently.
Joshua Monesson, a United States expert on laser hair removal, says the method works by transmitting energy deep into the follicles using the pigment in the hair as a conductor.
'The laser energy passes harmlessly through the skin but is absorbed by the pigment [melanin] in the hair. This energy is transmitted down the hair shaft to the follicle where it is transformed into heat that disables the follicle and disrupts the hair growth mechanism.' Joshua says laser hair removal, available at Bella Skin Care, is a painless way to remove hair permanently.
He says that what takes electrolysis an hour, a laser can do in seconds.
And as the laser's safety and effectiveness has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, any fears about this technology have been laid to rest.
For permanent hair removal, about four sessions are required. The cost ranges from $6,000 to $20,000 for a single session.
