A fresh row erupted yesterday over who should get the two Legislative Council seats vacated when the two municipal councils are scrapped.
Some legislators pushed for their demands at the final stage of discussion at the Bills Committee on the bill for the next Legislative Council polls.
According to the bill, the two seats will go to the district councils and catering industry functional constituencies.
But non-affiliated Ng Ching-fai, Dean of Science at the Baptist University, said the seat for catering should go to the higher education sector instead.
And Dr Leong Che-hung, who represents the medical constituency, said it should be allocated to the Chinese medicine sector.
The Liberal Party's Howard Young, representing the tourism industry, relayed demands from his hotel constituents for separate representation.
