Richard Hawkins has been appointed chief executive of Jardine Securicor, a joint venture between Jardine Pacific and Securicor plc of Britain. Mr Hawkins joined Securicor plc in 1986 as financial controller of the international division. He was later promoted to divisional financial director and became the chief executive-international, security services division, in 1997. He will remain an executive director of the security services division of Securicor plc. Wm Wrigley Jr Co has appointed Michael Wong as managing director, Asia. Mr Wong was previously regional managing director, North Asia. In his new role, he will also be responsible for operations in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and India. Jim Laurie has been appointed vice-president of network news and current affairs of STAR TV. He will be responsible for the continuing development of News Corp's Asian television news and business services. The Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, has made three promotions in the sales and marketing department. Irene Wong, who joined the hotel as a management trainee in 1989, has been appointed director of sales. Yvonne Mak, who joined Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, in 1994 as sales manager, has been named assistant director of sales. Agnes Cheng, who has been marketing research manager since 1997, has been promoted to marketing services/research manager. Pacific Lifestyle has appointed Paul Wang as chief technology officer. Mr Wang will be responsible for developing technology strategy and infrastructure, and technology-enabled solutions. Previously, he was regional IT director of Saatchi & Saatchi Asia. Farland Chang has joined CNN as anchor for Asia Business Morning, a new breakfast business programme. Andrew Stevens has been named correspondent/anchor, and Mary Scott has been appointed supervising producer for the programme. Mr Chang has nearly 20 years of journalistic experience. He joins CNN from NBC Network News in Los Angeles. Mr Stevens joins CNN from CNBC Asia where he was a correspondent. Ms Scott was news editor for CNBC Asia in Singapore and Hong Kong. Harold Mandel has joined Bennett Associates Hong Kong as partner and head of financial services and technology practices. Mr Mandel previously managed Ray & Berndtson Hong Kong's finance and technology practices. Rita Au has been promoted to head of the firm's consumer products practice. Jody Kong has rejoined the company as head of retail practice, and George Cheung has been promoted to head of research.
