RECENTLY there has been a lot of talk about the sudden increase in crimes in Tuen Mun.

  We feel that one reason these crimes are taking place is because of an error in our legislative system. Laws and punishments do not fit the crimes. For example, if you are convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl you can be out of prison within a year. But, if you are caught flicking your MTR ticket in the MTR station you can be fined up to $5,000 and six months' imprisonment.

  We feel something should be done so that the real criminals think twice before committing a crime, and that others have punishments that are comparatively equal to their crimes.
