Psychic says Diana wasn't meant to die

Assessing taxes and reading fortunes might seem like two completely different worlds but for Betty Palko, they collide.

Psychic Betty used to be a civil servant - until the day she realised she had the gift of foretelling the future.

'It was about 20 years ago when I went to see a psychic and she told me I would change my career and travel all over the world. Within a year my life changed completely.' Betty was Princess Diana's psychic from 1985 to 1990.

Betty says she had a premonition about Diana's fatal car accident in Paris - so why didn't she warn the princess? 'She wasn't meant to die . . . it was being at the wrong place at the wrong time.' Betty comes to Hong Kong twice a year and gives readings at the New Age Shop in Old Bailey Street.

'Most questions I get here - and anywhere else - are about money and love. These are universal concerns that don't have national boundaries,' she says.

Betty says all she does is help people help themselves. 'I don't tell people what to do or give them a magic wand. It's up to them to change their lives if they are unhappy. I tell people I am like a parrot - I just repeat what I hear.' Betty says she is able to communicate with spirits from beyond the grave by using tarot cards and she says language is no barrier to communicating with them.
