Two pupils have been removed from King George V School after their headmaster seized cannabis and heroin from them during a playground break.

Kowloon City police said the pair, Form Four and Five students aged 15 and 16, had been released on bail pending investigation.

Headmaster Denis Cocks said it was not known whether the boys were under the influence of the drugs when they were caught.

'In terms of it being a concern, of course it is being investigated to find out how deep this thing runs.

'It has always been my belief that students deserve a fresh start if they can, so that [moving them to other schools] has been done.' Kowloon City Deputy District Commander Chan Kit-chu said: 'It is too early to say if there is a wider problem at the school.'
