Kowloon True Light Middle School celebrated its golden anniversary with a thanksgiving service and open day which was also attended by some mainland pupils.
More than 2,000 people including alumni, parents, teachers, students and friends attended the event at the school campus in Kowloon Tong.
The celebrations opened with a drum dance in the playground, performed by primary school pupils. Secondary students arranged a dance with red flags, and exalted verses in honour of the school's birthday.
Students from Holy Carpenter Prevocational School were the guest performers and presented a stirring lion dance.
Wai Kwok-bong, the principal education officer for Kowloon, officiated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
There were about 30 stalls and each class was responsible for designing a learning game. Students also had a chance to show off their music, sports and drama talents with flute, clarinet, piano, guitar, zheng, singing and taekwando displays.
