Flying Cathay today? Breathe a sigh of relief. You've had a narrow escape.
The 11th-hour peace deal between pilots and management might have spared you the ride of your life.
Today was supposed to be judgment day. At high noon, flyers still refusing to sign on the dotted line were to face dismissal.
So one pilot was surprised to find he'd been scheduled to work shortly after the hour of reckoning.
'I called the company asking their advice on how I should know if I am to go to work, or if I have been terminated with three month's notice,' the flyer calling himself '2BSacked' said in a message posted on Cathay's on-line bulletin board.
But it seems his bosses never got back to him.
'In the caring CX style, I have to assume I will be sacked as I depart or am airborne on my way to Hong Kong,' he said.
