I REFER to Mr C. Heme's letter (South China Morning Post, April 22) on the routeing of the 12A Citybus route from Admiralty. The Transport Department has, in fact, been looking into ways of improving the situation for some time, and has now finalised a traffic management scheme which will allow vehicles leaving Admiralty easier access to Cotton Tree Drive under an improvement scheme to the Harcourt Road/Cotton Tree Drive junction. Provision of dotted lines only would allow vehicles to enter the single lane from Harcourt Road to Cotton Tree Drive which has existing capacity problems. Consequently, an extra lane from Harcourt Road to Cotton Tree Drive is necessary and provision of this extra lane plus other local widening is included in the scheme.
