SCMP Reporter

HONGKONG is sending a squad of 59 athletes to compete in the inaugural East Asian Games which open in Shanghai on Sunday.

 Also competing are hosts China, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Mongolia, Taiwan, Macau and Guam.

 Of the 12 sports involved, Hongkong will be taking part in athletics, badminton, gymnastics, judo, swimming, tenpin bowling, rowing and wushu.
