The Estate Agents Authority (EAA) is being urged by developers to simplify the leasing process for residential properties in its new regulations.

Chu Man-chung, manager of leasing and management with Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP), said the EAA should allow large landlords to list whole blocks of flats for lease on one form.

This is as opposed to having to list each unit on a separate piece of paper, as is proposed under the new regulations now being considered by the Government.

The landlords will have to list each unit in a residential development with each agent they deal with.

Previously, property agents could simply list flats for lease with no input from the landlord.

The new rules could open the floodgates for a paperwork nightmare, said Mr Chu.
