March 3, 1999: Pilots oppose pay cuts but say they are ready to negotiate.

March 16: Cathay delivers ul timatum asking pilots to agree to the pay cuts or quit.

May 25: Pilots issued a new ultimatum - accept a revised salary deal and pay cut, retire early, or be sacked on June 11.

May 28: Pilots call in sick, forcing Cathay to cancel three flights and stop taking bookings.
