A construction worker attacked a woman after she and her dogs walked on a newly cemented pavement, a court heard yesterday.

Eastern Court heard Elizabeth Ann Gower, 35, was walking with her four dogs in Lamma's Tai Peng Old Village, on April 8 when Chow Hing, 45, shouted that she and her dogs were leaving footprints in the fresh concrete.

Chow grabbed a spade, ran towards Ms Gower and started chasing after the dogs, the prosecution said.

Ms Gower tried to stop him but Chow hit her with the spade. She shouted for help and two friends came to her aid. Chow was then restrained by his colleagues.

But another construction worker, Lam Siu-hung, 30, then picked up a rod and hit Ms Gower's friend, Gurung Tanuja, 33.

Ms Gower and her friends escaped and filed a police report.
