Sacked Seven Sea Chemicals (Holdings) workers staged a march yesterday demanding the lifting of a court ban on protests for more compensation held at their former company.
The workers suffered a major setback on Wednesday when a High Court judge granted their employer a temporary injunction banning the group from staging protests outside its Sheung Shui warehouse and Hecom furniture outlets.
It followed heated exchanges at the warehouse two days earlier between the workers and the mother of the company's managing director, James Wu Yau-ching, during which Mrs Wu collapsed and was taken to hospital.
The clash led to the cancellation of a conciliation meeting and the application for the injunction by the employer.
Yesterday, the workers and Confederation of Trade Unions members marched to government headquarters and then the home of Mr Wu in Happy Valley to protest against the injunction.
'We are hoping to have the ban overturned when we appear in court on July 8 to answer the application,' confederation organising secretary Wendy Miu Sze-man said.
