A Citybus driver who sent an elderly passenger reeling on to the pavement when he opened the bus doors before stopping was fined $1,000 by Eastern Magistrate Chiu Man-cheuk yesterday. Lo Hung-tung, 44, a driver for 12 years, was convicted of failing to ensure his passenger's safety. He had denied the charge. Lo opened the doors of the 40M bus in Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, on December 13 before the vehicle came to a complete halt. Wong Wai-ping, 76, fell out of the bus and suffered injuries to her head and body.
