Suspect returned with $2m ransom
A Hong Kong resident arrested in Zhuhai for suspected involvement in the kidnap and murder of a 13-year-old boy was handed over to SAR police yesterday.
A sum of $2.4 million, believed to be the ransom collected in Macau and left in a Zhuhai safe deposit box, was also given to Senior Superintendent Choy Kin-cheung, who met his counterparts in the Guangdong city yesterday.
Hong Kong police had asked the mainland authorities to hand over the ransom recovered and the SAR resident, who was arrested in Zhuhai last Thursday.
The man was among three suspects returned yesterday.
The two others, aged 23 and 55, were wanted over separate cases of possession of dangerous drugs and vehicle theft.
The ransom will be returned to the family of the victim, Wu Ho-him, who was last seen on April 21 and whose body was found on a slope on Fei Ngo Shan on Sunday.
