A DOG owner who gave the SPCA his labrador-retriever so it could be found a new home is furious after the animal was destroyed within hours of being handed over.
Security company owner Tony Clarkson, 65, insists he gave strict instructions that his pet, Bobby, should be returned to him if a home could not be found.
But, he says, officers collected the dog while he was out, getting his stroke-bound wife to sign consent forms, and then put the animal down hours later.
Mr Clarkson, who lives in Lam Tei between Yuen Long and Tuen Mun, says he clearly told the SPCA of his wishes in conversations before Bobby was collected.
Last Saturday, however, officers arrived earlier than expected while he was out.
'My wife signed the consent forms but she recently suffered a stroke and consent meant nothing to her,' Mr Clarkson said.
