I recently registered five domain names through my company at Network Solutions in the US. Everything went perfectly smoothly. The registrations went through, as did the confirmations.

I then received an e-mail from Network Solutions, informing me that I could pay on-line by credit card or wait for their hard-copy invoice - which I had to do, since I wanted to pay by company cheque.

However, as chance would have it, I was checking on these domain names last week by which time I had yet to receive an invoice from Network Solutions, and three out of the five names I had registered were unregistered. Yet, I have copies of e-mails confirming that I did register them.

I went through the whole registration process again, but I'm annoyed that this happened in the first place. Someone else could have grabbed my domain names in the time they were unregistered.

Mail to Network Solutions has had no response to date. Is this a common occurrence? Why does it happen? Is it because of something I might have done wrong? Also, what is the best way to go about registering these same domain names on a country-by-country basis, .com.hk, for example.

NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED It is more likely because of something you did not do than something you did wrong. Network Solutions requires that a domain name be paid for within a certain number of weeks from the date of registration.
