Cyber pitch to business

Officials have been urged to promote the use of information technology in small and medium-size firms.

The motion, sponsored by Hong Kong Progressive Alliance legislator Hui Cheung-ching, was backed unanimously last night.

The import and export representative called for a comprehensive support policy for the sector and also suggested setting up an Internet shopping mall to promote business in cyberspace.

Acting Secretary for Trade and Industry Yvonne Choi Ying-pik said the Government had devoted much effort to sharpening competitiveness for the sector.
