Students at St Teresa Secondary School were told to equip themselves for the challenges ahead in view of the economic downturn.
Speaking at the school's 21st speech day, guest-of-honour Professor Edward Chen Kwan- yiu, president of Lingnan College, told students not to give up easily in face of difficulties.
Professor Chen said improving communication skills - which could be achieved through mastering the English and Chinese languages - and learning to accommodate different races and cultures were the keys to global economic recovery.
'People around the world have to work hand in hand to solve the problem,' he said.
He also stressed the importance of creativity and logical thinking.
Professor Chen emphasised that education did not stop at school. 'Education is a life- long process. Students have to constantly learn and expose themselves to the ever-changing world,' he said.
