Film production and distribution company Shaw Brothers is studying various options on how to boost earnings from its extensive film library.
Under one plan, the company would form a joint venture to set up a pay-for-view television channel in Hong Kong to broadcast the films, managing director Mona Fong Yat-wah said.
It could also sell the copyrights to its films to an existing cable-television channel, Ms Fong said.
The company was also considering the release of its films on VCDs, but she said copyright procedures might prove too complicated.
'We're currently studying various options on how to handle our old movies,' Ms Fong said.
'There'll be a decision in three months' time.' Ms Fong said the company's financial situation was stable and rejected rumours that its main source of income - Television Broadcasts - had plunged into the red.
Shaw did not produce any films in the past year, but it was in talks involving four or five possible productions, she said.
