Summonses are to be served on five exhibitors caught selling comic books containing allegedly indecent material at last week's Hong Kong Comics Festival.
The exhibitors would be charged for failing to comply with the Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance, a Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority spokesman revealed.
The 29 books seized contained materials classified as Category II, which was prohibited for sale to people aged under 18, he said.
Verbal warnings were also issued by the authority to five exhibitors at the Hong Kong Book Fair '99 which opened yesterday at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The spokesman said those warned had removed books believed to contain category two content from the shelves before the fair started.
A video compact disc series featuring category three content was also removed after a warning.
