Every morning when I get into my office, my fax machine is full of junk faxes. Eight out of 10 incoming faxes are junk faxes.
Not only do they block the incoming material I actually want to see, but this causes enormous wastage of precious natural resources.
This is caused by Cable & Wireless HKT's Fax Directory.
I understand that some companies put all the fax numbers in the directory in their database for routine fax-soliciting purposes. Some even put them on a diskette and sell it to other companies.
Therefore, although I have applied for my company's fax number to be protected and it will not be printed in the new Fax Directory, I keep receiving junk faxes. I often get the same material each month.
Why does Cable & Wireless print the directory in the first place? Anyone wanting to know a company's fax number can call the company to obtain it.
