Top health officials were asked yesterday to investigate how doctors repeatedly failed to diagnose a young mother who died of rabies.
Legislators from The Frontier, Democratic Party and Citizens Party joined calls from a migrant workers' group and the victim's mother for an inquiry.
'We can't bring her back, but we can make sure we don't make this mistake again,' said Emily Lau Wai-hing of The Frontier.
Cristina Solano, 22, died on July 14, two months after being bitten by a stray dog in the Philippines.
The Sunday Morning Post revealed yesterday she had sought medical treatment three times before being taken to hospital, and each time had been sent home with the wrong diagnosis.
Solano first visited a doctor in Hong Kong on May 31, but was only eventually diagnosed as having rabies on July 11.
