A new immigration checkpoint is planned for north Lantau Island to link with the proposed Disney theme park at Penny's Bay.

A cross-border ferry terminal is being planned to handle park visitors from the mainland and Macau. Visitors arriving at the terminal would be able to reach the park by road or rail.
They would be able to stay at a tourist village beside the terminal or at Disney hotels planned for reclaimed land.
The Hong Kong Tourist Association estimates a majority of Disney visitors would be mainlanders.
The mainland has been Hong Kong's leading tourist source in recent years.

Last year, mainlanders accounted for nearly 2.6 million visitors, or 27.1 per cent of the total.
