THE quality of life of many of the people in the 16 groups making up the Alliance for Patients' Mutual Help Organisations can be greatly improved with a small medical appliance. For example, patients who have had their voice-box removed can learn to speak again, with a $5,000 electro-larynx. However, the cost is beyond the means of many patients. The South China Morning Post and Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation have come to their aid. Their joint venture has resulted in Time Out , Hongkong's first bilingual sightseeing guidebook. All money from the sale of the book, which spotlights 25 day-tripping destinations in Hongkong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, will be donated to the alliance. The book is written by Barry Girling, one of the most respected travel writers in Hongkong. Time Out is on sale at major bookshops. For order forms, call Ross Lai at the KCRC on 606-9358.
