HAVING a clear picture on where one is heading well before hand particularly when one is confronted by a huge and fascinating place like the Hongkong Science Museum would be most helpful.

At the entrance hall of the museum is the new ''Vidiwall - Exhibits and Facilities Directory System'' which enables visitors to see impressive and spectacular images with sound effects of the various aspects of the museum before starting.

In front of the Vidiwall is a metal case containing a ''Control Panel'', which is a retrieval system for giving access to information on the museum's exhibits and facilities.

A simple touch of the keys of the computer screen will show the various facilities provided by the museum.

At the same time, information provided by the retrieval system will also be displayed on the Vidiwall at scheduled times.
