Former Xinhua official Zhang Junsheng is to meet Tung Chee-hwa for an exchange of views. Mr Zhang, Zhejiang University's party secretary, declined to say what topics they would touch on at their meeting, expected to be held tomorrow. 'He may give me his suggestions and I may give him mine,' Mr Zhang said after a ceremony at City University yesterday. He refused to comment on whether Mr Tung should seek another term. The retired Xinhua deputy director said Mr Tung had done a good job in leading the SAR through the transition and the regional financial crisis. The Tung administration had also been effective in dealing with internal difficulties arising from implementation of the 'one country, two systems' policy, he said. Mr Zhang backed the proposal to import professionals from the mainland to help develop an innovative technology industry in Hong Kong. But no plan had yet been drawn up on the importation of professionals from universities on the mainland, he said. Mr Zhang is on a seven-day visit to the SAR to discuss research programmes jointly organised by his university and those in Hong Kong.
