When I was small, I didn't see the importance of family. I longed to break away from the control of my annoying parents and start my own life.

I also felt my family didn't seem to care about one another. But my mum always treated me as if I could not take care of myself while she was at work. She would continually phone me up during the day. I wished she would treat me as an adult.

However, as I became more mature, I under stood my mum better. My family also became more important to me.

I realised that I should not have complained, but appreciated what I had. All my mum did was a sign of love and care. Thanks to her, I got over the HKCEE.

Despite occasional arguments within the fam ily, I've learned to accept the fact that I was born into this family, and appreciate the effort my mum has put in to make it a better home. There's nothing more precious than our own family.

So we should love our families and be thankful for what we are.
